VISIT OF THE FEDERAL MINISTER FOR PORTS AND SHIPPING TO THE IC3 TERMINAL

The Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira visited the Integrated Cargo/Container Control (IC3) operated under Secure Freight Initiative (SFI) facility on June 6, 02008. He was accompanied by the Federal Secretary Ports and Shipping Mr. Saleem Khan. The honorable guests were received by Mr. Munir Qureshi, Chief Collector of Customs (South) and were given a tour f the premises as well as a presentation on the facility. The Honourable Minister was also apprised of the land requirements at Karachi Port for the new IC3 facility as well as the additional land required for the current facility at Port Qasim. The Honourable Minister very kindly agreed to the request and gave directions to the Secretary Port and Shipping to provide the required land.

The Honourable Minister was pleased with the operations and management of the IC3 facility at Port Qasim and commented:


“I am very impressed by this state of art facility. It must be replicated in KPT and Gawadar. It will ensure the confidence of importers and support the businesses of our country. I appreciate the efforts and style of officers of Pakistan Customs working over here”.
