Broadening of Tax Base. Broadening of Tax base aiming at netting potential tax payers.
Access to Major Date Bases. Linkages with all Major National Provincial Regional Data Bases.
Cross matching of Data with master index and tax profile. Cross matching for the purposes of countering non-reporting and under reporting .
Complaint handling. Complaints (relating to the above areas )referred by the chairman FBR(under FBR Act).
Financial Investigation. Preliminary investigation so as to determine the possible loss of revenue or the real revenue potential in cases mentioned above.
Economic & Fiscal Intelligence. Discreet information gathering on all Tax related issues Non reporting ,Under reporting massive tax evasion connivance between tax evaders and tax collectors, fiscal fraud and Revenue leakages.
Director General Valuation and Post Clearance Audit (PCA) FBR is a part of Customs Administrative Reforms and has been established vide Board's letter C.No.3(24)SSM/2008 dated 03.11.2008.
The primary function assigned to Directorate General is to conduct post clearance audit of all imports into and exports from Pakistan in order to examine whether due duty and taxes leviable thereon have been paid correctly and the applicable rules and regulations have been followed.
Presently, the Directorate General of Post Clearance Audit consists of two Directorates based at Karachi and Lahore. The Directorate at Karachi has jurisdiction over all the custom collectorates in the province of Sindh and Balochistan whereas the Directorate at Lahore has jurisdiction over all the custom collectorates in the provinces of Punjab and KPK.
Director General (Intelligence and Investigation) FBR based at Islamabad is responsible for:
To collects, processes, disseminates information and enforces prevention of tax evasion.
Enforces measures to prevent smuggling of contrabands, including drugs.
The Director General is assisted by three Directors , one each stationed at Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

Director General (Training and Research), IR based at Lahore (with regional offices at Karachi and Islamabad) is responsible for:
To plan, outline and supervise training courses, workshops and seminars of national and international level, specialized training programmes for probationers of Inland Revenue Service and other training assignments for officers and officials of Inland Revenue with the help of Director and Additional Directors.
To plan, innovate and modernize course outlines and training modules for various training programmes.
To liaise with national & international universities and training institutions to keep the training programs in line with the modern techniques and needs of reform processes.
To carry out training need assessments for readjusting the training modules accordingly
To organize research on Fiscal Matters having a bearing on Revenue mobilization
To supervise budgeting and procurement
To impart lectures
To monitor performance of Regional offices of Karachi and Islamabad
