| The Collectorate of Customs, Sales Tax & Federal Excise, Quetta was established in the year 1977. Prior to its establishment, it was part of the Hyderabad Collectorate. The jurisdiction of the Collectorate extends to the entire province of Balochistan which is almost 42% of the country. The province shares long and porous borders with Afghanistan and Iran. It also touches the three other provinces of Pakistan. The Pak-Iran border is 730 Kms long stretching from Jiwani to Qilla Rabat. The terrain is mostly desert / hilly and shifting sand dunes making accessibility awfully difficult. Pak-Afghanistan border is 930 Kms long, starting from Qilla Rabat and ending at Gul Kach. The terrain is mountainous and hilly. The Coastline is 640 Kms in length stretching from Jiwani and ending at Hub. There is no industrial or agricultural activity in remote areas and Sales Tax matters and activities are mainly dealt at Sales Tax House, Hub |

Custom House, Chaman serves the historic trade route of Pakistan with Afghanistan i.e. Chaman-Kandhar. It is a declared Custom House for import/export and transit of goods to & from Afghanistan since 1955. Custom House, Chaman has played an important role in the rehabilitation of Afghanistan by extending utmost facilitation for the export of goods, machinery, food stuff, fertilizer and other infrastructure development items. It also facilitate cross border of goods meant for NATO forces in Afghanistan. It also played a significant role in operation Enduring Freedom and provided unhindered support by facilitating cross border of goods / fuel meant for US forces in Afghanistan. |

It is located at a distance of 645 Kms from Quetta at Pakistan - Iran Border. The trade routes with Iran are historic and also connect Pakistan through Iran to the Central Asian States, Middle East and Europe (via Turkey). Major volume of trade is being handled through the border of Taftan with Iran. There is also a rail link to the said border. Custom House, Taftan also oversees the EPZ Saindak-Gold Project which is of vital national importance and is run by Chinese who have invested billions of dollars and has also earned the national exchequer billions of dollars through export of blister copper. |

It also serves as a check on smuggling from the long & porous borders with Afghanistan. It was established in the year 1984 and lie 350 Kms down the main RCD Highway to Pak-Iran border. |

| Custom House, Gwadar. Custom House Gwadar was established in the year 1983. Primarily, it was meant to facilitate accompanied and unaccompanied baggage of passengers coming from Oman and other gulf states. It also issued port clearance to the fishing vessels according to the provisions of Customs Act 1969. Strategically, Gwadar is the gate way to the vast hinterland of Afghanistan and Central Asia The construction of Coastal Highway has provided hassle free access from the Port to Karachi / RCD Highway. Custom House Gaddani. Custom House, Gaddani was established in the year 1979 to facilitate Ship Breaking. Ship Breaking is a unique industry in Pakistan coupled with some other countries of the like India, China & Bangladesh. An obsolete ship is imported by the breakers and broken / dismantled at Gaddani Ship Breaking Yard. The scrapped ships primarily yields iron and steel scrap in the form of re-meltable as well re-rollable scrap. Other useful items such as machinery and equipment are salvaged as such and sold in the local market. In Pakistan the Ship Breaking Industry started in early seventies. The industry picked up quickly and in the late seventies, it rose to almost 200 vessels being scrapped annually. This period witnessed record business by the ship breaking industry. This boom however declined when Pakistan Steel Mill started its operations specially in Steel Billets at Bin Qasim Karachi. Apart from Pakistan Steel Mills, the industry faced competition from the importers / re-melters as well. The re-melters directly import Iron & Steel scrap for re-melting. Besides, facilitating the Ship Breaking Industry, Custom House Gaddani also carries out anti-smuggling operations at RCD Highway. The flow of smuggled goods is normally to and from Afghanistan and Iran. A mobile post is working at Khurkera at a distance of about 50 Kilometres from Custom House, Gaddani towards north. The seized goods comprise of petrol, diesel, Mobil oil, cloths, tyres, liquor, narcotics, electronic goods etc. Custom Hous
