WORKSHOP ON AMENDMENTS IN INCOME TAX, SALES TAX & FED INTRODUCED THROUGH FINANCE ACT 2013 ORGANIZED BY LTU KARACHI HELD FROM 19.08.2013 TO 29.08.2013.
In order to discuss the recent changes in Sales Tax, Income Tax and Federal Excise Duty brought through Finance Act 2013, workshops were organized in LTU Karachi on daily basis.
The taxpayers of LTU Karachi as well as members of trade associations related to different industrial sectors were invited in small groups due to scarcity of space. The workshop continued from 1000 hrs to 1230 hrs everyday from 19th August 2013.The basic purpose of the workshop was to develop mutual understanding of the amendments in tax laws and motivate the taxpayers to comply with the updated laws in its true letter & spirit.
A team of dedicated officers constituting Additional Commissioners Badruddin Ahmad Quraishi, Dr.Najeeb Memon, Girdhari Mal and Deputy Commissioner Choudhry Muhammad Anwar briefed the audience about the recent changes in Sales Tax Act 1990, Income Tax Ordinance 2001 and Federal Excise Act 2005. Special focus was made on new revenue measures and withholding tax regime. Exporters related Sales Tax SRO 1125(1)/2011 alongwith amendments made through SROs 682, 221 & 154 of 2013, extra sales tax @ 5% on industrial & commercial utility consumers and changes made through SRO 98(1)/2013 in Sales Tax Special Procedure Withholding Rules were also discussed in detail. The detailed deliberation was followed by question & answer session. The taxpayers of LTU Karachi actively participated in the interactive session and mutual understanding was developed for compliance against each budgetary measure.
