The Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation-Inland Revenue, Islamabad’s team has seized 600 packrites (6,000,000 sticks) of local brands of illegal cigarettes valuing more than Rs. 40 million after intercepting two vehicles at Burhan Interchange of Motorway. On inquiry it was also found that FED amounting to Rs.9.9 million and Sales Tax amounting to Rs. 2.756 million was not deposited in Government Exchequer against supplies of aforesaid cigarettes. The Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation-Inland Revenue, Islamabad has confiscated the cigarettes and mandatory legal proceedings are underway for recovery of due taxes.
In pursuit to the vision of Prime Minister to curb the menace of trade of counterfeit and illicit tobacco trade which is not only hazardous to the health of general public but also causing huge loss to the Government Exchequer, the Chairman FBR has urged Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation-Inland Revenue to speed up the enforcement measures to combat the trade of counterfeit and non-duty paid cigarettes.

ڈائیریکٹوریٹ آف انٹیلی جنس اینڈ انوسٹی گیشن ان لینڈ ریونیو اسلام آباد کی ٹیم نے برہان انٹرچینج موٹر وے پر خفیہ اطلاع ملنے پر دو گاڑیوں کی تلاشی کے دوران لوکل برانڈز کے غیر قانونی سگریٹس کے 600 پیکیٹس (60 لاکھ سگریٹس) جس کی مالیت 40 ملین روپے سے زائد ہے ، کو ضبط کر لئے۔ انکوائری کے بعد پتہ چلا ہے کہ 9.9ملین روپے کی فیڈرل ایکسائز ڈیوٹی اور 2.756 ملین روپے کا سیلز ٹیکس چوری کیا گیا۔ سگریٹ ضبط کر کے ٹیکس ریکوری کے لئے قانونی کاروائی کا آغاز کر دیا گیا ہے۔
