Upon receipt of credible information, Intelligence Team of Customs Enforcement, Karachi conducted a surveillance on warehouses located at Aram Bagh market, Lucknow, and Al-Jadeed Market Saddar, Karachi, where a huge quantity of foreign origin smuggled cloth worth Rs. 20 Million was dumped. The Customs’ Team was constituted under the supervision of Deputy Collector Customs, ASO, Collectorate of Customs, Enforcement, Karachi to carry out the joint operation at the identified places along with other law enforcement agencies i.e Sindh Police and Rangers.
As soon as the raiding team reached the target location, a violent mob comprising of more than hundred people attacked the raiding party and official vehicles with sticks and stones, causing damage to the government vehicles. A few gun shots were also fired by the miscreants. The crowd was dispersed after the police resorted to aerial firing. No one was injured during the operation except 02 Customs Sepoys who sustained minor injuries due to stones and sticks.
The ASO team succeeded in recovering a sizable quantity of smuggled cloth worth more than Rs. 20 million from these Warehouses, which as taken to ASO headquarters for detailed examination. FIR has been registered against the miscreants in Police Station, Aram Bagh and also in the Custom Court. The culprits will be arrested and more information about the smuggled goods will be collected from the accused during investigation.
Adviser to PM on Finance and Revenue, Shaukat Tarin has commended the raiding party for their successful operation against smugglers and appreciated FBR in its drive against tax evasion. Likewise, Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed, Chairman FBR/Secretary Revenue Division, has lauded the bravery and professional conduct during this sensitive operation and announced cash awards and recognition certificates for the raiding team. He reaffirmed that FBR was following a zero tolerance policy against smuggling and these operations will continue across the country to eliminate this menace from Pakistan.

کسٹم انفورسمنٹ کراچی کے انٹیلی جنس عملے نے مصدقہ اطلاع ملنے پر آرام باغ مارکیٹ، لکھنؤ اور الجدید مارکیٹ صدر، کراچی میں واقع گوداموں کی نگرانی کی، جہاں پر 2 کروڑ روپے مالیت کا بھاری مقدار میں غیر ملکی اسمگل شدہ کپڑا پڑاتھا ۔ ڈپٹی کلکٹر آف کسٹمز، اے ایس او، کلکٹریٹ آف کسٹمز، انفورسمنٹ، کراچی کی نگرانی میں کسٹمز کی ٹیم تشکیل دی گئی جس نے سندھ پولیس اور رینجرز کے علاوہ دیگر قانون نافذ کرنے والے اداروں کے ساتھ مل کر مذکورہ مقامات پر مشترکہ آپریشن کیا۔
جونہی آپریشن ٹیم مذکورہ مقام پر پہنچی تو سو سے زائد افراد پر مشتمل پرتشدد گروہ نے افسران اور اہلکاروں پر پتھراؤ اور لاٹھیوں اور پتھروں سے سرکاری گاڑیوں کو توڑنا شروع کر دیا جس سے سرکاری گاڑیوں کو نقصان پہنچا۔ شرپسند افراد کی جانب سے چند گولیاں بھی چلائی گئیں۔ پولیس نے ہوائی فائرنگ کی جس کے بعد ہجوم منتشر ہو گیا۔ آپریشن کے دوران 2 سپاہیوں کے معمولی زخموں کے علاوہ کوئی دیگر جانی نقصان نہیں ہوا ۔
اے ایس او کی ٹیم نے2 کروڑ روپے سے زائد مالیت کاسمگل شدہ کپڑا برآمد کیا اور تفصیلی جانچ کے لیے ASO ہیڈ کوارٹر بھیج دیا ۔ شرپسندوں کے خلاف پولیس سٹیشن آرام باغ اور کسٹم کورٹ میں ایف آئی آر درج کی گئی ۔ ملزمان سے سمگل شدہ اشیا ء کے بارے میں مزید معلومات اکھٹی کی جا رہی ہیں اور جلد ہی مجرموں کو گرفتار کر لیا جائے گا۔
وزیر اعظم کے مشیر برائے خزانہ و ریونیو شوکت ترین نے اسمگلرز کے خلاف کامیاب آپریشن پر آپریشن ٹیم اور ایف بی آر کی ٹیکس چوری کے خلاف جاری کاروائیوں کی تعریف کی۔اسی طرح چئیرمین ایف بی آرڈاکٹر محمد اشفاق احمد نے اس اہم آپریشن پر افسران و اہلکاروں کو اس بہادری اور پیشہ وارانہ مہارت پر داد دیااور آپریشن میں حصہ لینے والوں کو تعریفی اسناد اور نقد انعام دینے کا اعلان کیا۔انہوں نے کہا کہ ایف بی آر اسمگلنگ کے خلاف زیرو ٹالرنس پالیسی پر عمل درآمد کر رہا ہےاور اعادہ کیا کہ ملک بھر میں اسمگلنگ کے خاتمے کے لئے اس طرح کے آپریشن جاری رہیں گے۔
