CUSTOMS LABORATORY BECOMES OPERATIONAL AT AZAKHEL DRY PORT
Pakistan Customs has established a new Customs Laboratory at Azakhel Dry port for facilitating trade. The laboratory is equipped with basic instruments sufficient to conduct testing of fabrics, plastic, plastic related products, and edibles and dyes.
Earlier, samples were referred for testing to laboratories at Karachi, Lahore, and Faisalabad which took several days and increased costs. Now around 80 % of the samples would be tested at the local laboratory. By establishing a customs laboratory at Azakhel, a long-standing demand of the importers has been met and they expressed their satisfaction over operationilzation of the laboratory welcoming the initiative as it would reduce delays in clearance and decrease cost leading to decrease in dwell time.
President Sarhad Chamber of Commerce Mr. Junaid Altaf also appreciated the establishment of lab. The Customs controls shall also improve by ensuring integrity of the samples.
Another state of the art laboratory shall soon become operational at Torkham Border station under the ITTMS Project.
ازاخیل ڈرائی پورٹ پر کسٹمز لیبارٹری نے کام شروع کردیا۔
پاکستان کسٹمز نے تجارت میں سہولت فراہم کرنے کی غرض سے ازا خیل ڈرائی پورٹ پر ایک نئی کسٹمز لیبارٹری قائم کر دی ہے۔ یہ لیبارٹری کپڑوں، پلاسٹک اور پلاسٹک سے بنی مصنوعات، خوردنی اشیاء اور رنگوں کو جانچنے کے لیے بنیادی آلات سے لیس ہے۔
اس سے پہلے ان اشیا کے نمونے جانچنےکے لئے کراچی، لاہور اور فیصل آباد کی لیبارٹریوں کو بھیجے جاتے تھے جس میں کئی دن لگ جاتے تھے اور اخراجات میں اضافہ ہو جاتا تھا۔ اب تقریباً 80 فیصد نمونوں کی جانچ مقامی لیبارٹری میں ہی کی جائے گی ۔
ازاخیل میں کسٹمز لیبارٹری کے قیام سے درآمد کنندگان کا ایک دیرینہ مطالبہ پورا ہو گیا ہے۔ انہوں نے لیبارٹری کے فعال ہونے پر اطمینان کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے اس اقدام کا خیر مقدم کیا ہے کیونکہ اس سے کلیئرنس میں کم وقت صرف ہوگا ، لاگت میں کمی آئے گی اور ڈرائی پورٹ پر مال کے رکے رہنے کا دورانیہ کم ہوجائے گا ۔
سرحد چیمبر آف کامرس کے صدر جنید الطاف نے بھی لیبارٹری کے قیام کو سراہا ہے۔
مستند نمونوں کی فوری جانچ کی وجہ سے کسٹمز کنٹرولز میں بھی بہتری آئے گی۔ اس کے علاوہ، ایک جدید ترین لیبارٹری جلد ہی طورخم بارڈر اسٹیشن پر بھی آئی ٹی ٹی ایم ایس منصوبے (ITTMS Project) کے تحت فعال ہو جائے گی۔
